Who We Are
"Let's Grow Together" — a Zambian foundation dedicated to reforesting communities with high-value indigenous trees.
Our Story
Divergent Innovation Foundation was born from a simple but powerful observation: Zambia's most nutritious, most valuable, and most iconic trees — the Baobab and the Tamarind — are disappearing from our landscapes at the same time communities need them most.
We set out to change that. By growing and distributing seedlings entirely free of charge, and tracking each tree's journey from seedling to maturity using digital technology, we're building a transparent, verifiable, and community-owned reforestation movement.
Our foundation is headquartered at 191B Chindo Road, Kabulonga, Lusaka — a fitting home base for a movement that's rooted locally but growing nationally.
To grow and distribute free indigenous tree seedlings across all ten provinces of Zambia, creating healthier communities, richer ecosystems, and sustainable livelihoods through trees.
A Zambia where every family has access to nutritious, economically valuable trees — and where forests, communities, and markets grow together in a self-reinforcing cycle of abundance.
We use blockchain technology to register and track every tree — ensuring transparency, accountability, and a permanent record of environmental and community impact.
By The Numbers
How We Work
We cultivate seedlings in our nurseries from carefully selected indigenous seed stock.
Seedlings are distributed entirely free to farmers, schools, and community groups.
Community members plant trees with guidance on optimal location, spacing, and care.
Every tree is registered on our digital platform — location, health, growth, and impact.
Our People
The people dedicated to growing and distributing free indigenous trees across Zambia.
Founder
Environmentalist, foodie, amateur writer & photographer, and avid traveller — Mulonda founded Divergent Innovation Foundation with a simple belief: that trees are the most powerful thing a community can plant. With over 20 years of experience in finance, she brings both the strategic discipline and the personal passion to grow this movement from a seedling giveaway into a national reforestation programme.
Trustee
With over 20 years in media, entertainment, and events hosting, Mutale brings a rare combination of public presence and behind-the-scenes operational experience to the Foundation. As Trustee, she provides governance oversight, opens doors through her extensive professional network, and ensures our community events are planned and executed with flair — from intimate seedling giveaways to large-scale distribution days.
Media, Photographer & Trustee
With over 20 years in information technology, Dalitso is the quiet engine behind our digital operations — from systems and infrastructure to the photography that tells our story. An avid foodie and self-taught chef, his creativity extends well beyond the kitchen: as our dedicated photographer and media trustee, he documents every planting day, giveaway, and nursery milestone with the eye of someone who genuinely loves what he is capturing.
