Divergent Innovation Fund gave away the tamarind seedlings for free instead of selling them in order to make them more accessible to people who might not otherwise be able to afford them. The foundation also hopes that by giving away the seedlings, they will encourage people to plant tamarind trees and help to increase the availability of this valuable resource.
